Immigration

The immigration system is broken and forces people to do what they need to do for their family, we should make it easier for them to become documented. Undocumented immigrants commit less crime than legal immigrants and US citizens, they pay into the tax pool without taking anything out of it, and they are hard workers who stimulate the economy and local industry.

The 5th Amendment says that all persons are entitled to due process, not just citizens.

Healthcare

We support a universal healthcare system.

Labor

We are opposed to the overturning of Proposition A, the minimum wage increase and earned sick leave that Missouri voters passed in November by 58%. Republican politicians do not care about working people. They do not care about parents who lose a day of pay because they have to stay home with a sick kid. They do not care about working people who cannot afford a one bedroom apartment on the current minimum wage.

We support working people and their right to organize their workplace for a better life, better wages, and better benefits. All labor is valuable.

Democracy

We support expanding voter access with automatic voter registration and same-day registration.

We support the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, to give voters confidence in their vote and access to the ballot box at the state and federal level on Election Day.

We support making Election Day a federal paid holiday, to insure that all citizens have the opportunity to cast their votes.

We oppose any practices that mass remove people from the voter rolls, enable gerrymandering, and limit absentee and early voting.

LGBTQIA+

We support people’s legal rights to live their lives how they see fit. LGBTQIA+ folks have fought long and hard for rights they shouldn’t have ever had to fight for.

The hate campaign against gay and trans people was intentionally made to distract from the issues that Republican politicians don’t want to talk about, like lowering prices. The LGBTQIA+ community does not hurt you, they want to live their lives like everybody else. Let them.

The trans community is under attack, and we support them and the healthcare workers that provide the lifesaving treatment they need.

Reproductive Rights

The right of a person to control their reproductive system is a basic right that everybody should have. The Republican Party doesn’t care about that right, and they proved that by actively dismissing the will of Missouri voters, who passed Amendment 3 in November by 52%.

We are opposed to the new abortion ban passed by Missouri Republicans, who are intent on destroying reproductive health in hospitals across the state, by pushing out OBGYNs and other doctors who cannot do their jobs, and by restricting access to valuable medicines that combat issues other than pregnancy. We will not go back.

Social Safety

We support both earned benefit programs, like Social Security & Medicare, and programs that support low-income citizens, like Medicaid and SNAP. These programs, along with things like the Child Tax Credit, unemployment, and rental assistance, ease low income families’ pain, and should be expanded upon, not reduced or cut.

We support paid sick leave, paid parental leave, an increased minimum wage, and other programs that support families and working people. Our tax dollars should benefit Missourians, not just support billionaires, corporations, and the war machine.

Education

We support publicly-funded Pre K-12 education. Tax dollars should provide educational and nutritional access for all children, invest in resources for teachers, and advocate for teachers’ unions.

We do not support vouchers for private and charter schools that take money away from rural families suffering.

We support colleges and universities receiving increased funding without fear of punishment for students’ expression of their 1st Amendment rights. Colleges know their admissions standards better than the government, and they should be allowed to run in a way that benefits students the most.

We support tuition-free trade schools and community colleges.
